Ian Allen

Offensive Lineman

Scottish Claymores 2002

Inducted in 2003

Ian was a standout at RT for us during the 2002 season, where he made 8 starts on a line that only gave up 6 sacks all year, as well as blocking for the league's top rusher.

We first saw this all round good play college, when he was with Purdue in 2000, when QB Drew Brees took the Boilermakers all the way to the Rose Bowl. On that day Allen's Boilermakers knocked off Michigan 32-31 in a thriller! After graduating from Purdue, Allen first signed with the Falcons in 2001, but couldn't make the team that year. The Chiefs picked him up after the season and sent him over to Scotland in the spring of 2002.

As a Claymore, Ian played offensive tackle and was a rock early in the season. However in mid-season Ian forced to miss 2 starts when his father passed on - but ole #77 was back in the line-up sooner than expected and help us finally break our Catalan curse in week 10.

Ian was great to the fans all year - and although he didn't make the roster of his allocated team after the season (Kansas City), he made to latch on to the practice squad of the New York Giants in 2002.

However there was good news for Ian during his spring spent in Scotland. While here he met his future wife Joelle after fellow hall of famer McAllister Collins persuaded Ian to go and talk to her.

Congratulations on making the hall Ian, and good luck in New York for 2003!
