Siran Stacy

Running Back

Scottish Claymores 1995-97, 2000

Inducted in 2001

For many fans, Siran Stacy WAS the Claymores in the franchise's early days and his popularity clearly hadn't diminished when he was given a hero's welcome upon his return during the 2000 season. He certainly has the numbers to prove it - he holds the league record for career rushes (627) and yards (2,362).

But during those dark dark days of 1995, Siran was the one constant in the Claymores backfield. On a struggling offense on a struggling team that would lose 8 of its first 9 games Siran managed to flourish leading the league in rushing. His season ending performance in a win in London (see below) was arguably a springboard for the Championship Season in 1996. Siran was again a key component leading the league in rushing, but this time there was more firepower on offense and a sterling defense to boot, and that would carry the team to a World Bowl victory. After missing the start of the 1997 season due to off the field issues, he again came to the rescue as the Claymores struggled to move the ball all season eventually finishing 5-5. And that seemed to be that. Until 2000 that is. After being inducted into the Claymores Hall of Fame (whatever that is) Siran flew over for an induction ceremony and next thing you know … he's playing special teams the next week! Siran provided a little veteran leadership as the Claymores went to World Bowl 2000, finally falling to the Fire.

Siran was never more popular on his return to Scotland in 2000, and proves the point that any American players that show the commitment to keep coming back to Scotland (just as for George Coghill) will be rewarded with a warm Scottish welcome. It's a honour for us to induct Siran into the Hall this year!!!

Great Siran Moments

  • 95 Season - Week 3 at Frankfurt. Siran rushing for 2 TD's, the second with only 44 seconds to play as the Scots register their first win in franchise history - a 20-14 nail biter over the Galaxy in Frankfurt.
  • 95 Season. Week 5 at Dusseldorf. Siran sets the league rushing record with 175 yards on 38 carries (also a record then) and 2 TD's. However the Claymores blow a 20-3 in the third quarter, eventually losing 33-27 in overtime when the Fire score on a botched punt.
  • 95 Season Week 10 at London. Siran carries a Terry Karg led offense to a 22-9 at White Hart Lane - the Claymores first win over the Auld Enemy. Stacy rushes for 136 yards on 33 carries to win the league rushing title and set a new single season record.
  • 96 Season. Week 5 at Frankfurt. Claymores seal a World Bowl place with a 20-0 whitewash of the Galaxy in Frankfurt, and Siran is a key cog once again. He rushes for 133 yards on 25 yards in game that's close until the 4th quarter. In the process he becomes the league's all-time rushing leader.
  • 96 Season. Week 8 vs. London. Siran's career long 43 yard TD run clinces a 33-28 win over the Monarchs, as he again tops 100 yards (20-100).
  • 97 Season. Week 6 vs. Amsterdam. In pouring rain and mud at Murrayfield, Siran carries the offense all day with a record 43 carries for 143 yards. The Claymores pull out a late 10-6 win over the Jay Fielder led Admirals when Dave Barr hits Yo Murphy for the only TD of the game with 1:46 left.
  • 2000 Season. Week 8 at Amsterdam. 6 carries 12 yards. Hardly Siran's best day in the Blue and Silver but the contingent of Claymores fans out in Amsterdam enjoyed every one of those carries as Siran made a stunning comeback during the Claymores road to the World Bowl.

Congratulations #27!!!
