PART EIGHT - WRAP UP |

The game was over and the now traditional spraying of small bits of paper ceremony can begin! And then before you know it, another stage has been erected in the the blink of an eye, the super sized inflatable Lombardi trophy is back on the field, and every winning player has their champion t-shirt and cap. |

And then Jim Nance is handing the trophy to Robert Kraft the Patriots owner. 2 Super Bowls in 3 years is not bad going for a team that in the early 90's was the joke of the league. However it is NOT a dynasty. A dynasty requires domination as well as victories. The Patriots 6 postseason wins have been by a total of 29 points. Heck the Redskins outscored the Broncos in SB XXIII by 35 points in one quarter! Win another next year though, and the dynasty talk will be more relevant. |

Unsurprisingly Tom Brady was named MVP. He played a great game, 32 completions (a record) for 354 yards and 3 TD's. But please hold off the Hall of Fame for this guy yet. Just like in the AFC Championship, he threw a bad 4th Q interception had kept an outplayed opponent in the ball game. Where's the killer instinct? |

A Cheddar MVP (Most Versatile Performance) would have to Pats LB/TE Mike Vrabel (#50). One of his 2 sacks forced the turnover that was critical in opening the score (as in SB XXXVI). And besides his 6 tackles, he also chipped in with the Pats final touchdown. |

And last but certainly not least was the surprise run into ex Claymores QB Haruhito Tsuji who is now Japan's answer to Nick Halling! Tsuji was our 1st Japanese QB way back in 1999, and famously got in for a kneel down during our win in Berlin. Keen readers of this site may also recall an incident in Amsterdam that solidified his status as a Cheddarhead hero. |

And that was that. By the time we got back to the hotel the heavens had opened and we were spared the first rainy Super Sunday. Houston did a hell of a job hosting the game, and can expect to get another Super Bowl at the end of the decade. It was great to see the people of the city enjoy the experience so much, and all visitors were made really welcome. Company came and had a great time - thanks! |
