PART II : BURNT IN BOULDER!!! |
Sun 1 Oct Get up. Shower. Head out to the ball game! |
Mile High Stadiums baby! On the left - the old one. On the right - the new one, where the Broncos will begin play next year. And in the middle, 2 clowns with a bed sheet. |
Tailgating Denver style! Definitely top tailgating here - right by the stadium and filled with a good bunch of fans. |
Case in point here, where our new found friends (who we inexplicably have forgotten the complete set of names again here except for Rex the dog - sorry!) made sure our thirsts were quenched. Much appreciated guys! |
It's true - everything in the USA is bigger … |
Look ma, we're on the field! |
Romo trots out on the field. <Insert amusing prescription gag here>. |
George Coghill - owner of 1 World Bowl ring, 2 Super Bowl rings, a Claymore Hall of Famer, a Cheddar Hall of Famer and all-round nice guy. He was also special teams captain on this day. |
Terrell Davis with his best run of the day. Sadly this was during warmups. #30 has had the injury bug again this year and hobbled out of the game in the 2nd quarter. |
Bronco Ring of Famer and friend of the Cheddars Billy Thompson (40 career interceptions from 69 to 81). Note our kiss ass do-rags. |
The Broncs were playing the Patriots on this day and another Claymore was on show - #63 Joe Andruzzi who was starting at right guard for New Englanders. |
Nice chaps girls! |
This is the view from One Mile and a Half High. That's the new stadium in the background in case you were wondering. |
Boy it was hot up there. High 80's - so much for the 30's and snow the week before. You could almost reach out and touch that sun up there. These were Nose-Burn seats not Nose-Bleed! |
That's Terry Glenn catching the 4th and final TD pass from Drew Bledsoe which put the wraps on a 28-19 New England upset win. Without Terrell Davis the Denver O is ineffective in the red zone, and when big Drew decides today is the day for his season breakout the Cheddar curse has struck again. 0 and 2 in Colorado … |

Let us get serious for a moment. Some folks live their lives and never fulfill their dreams, their fantasies, - and go to their grave with a niggling feeling of something that wasn't achieved. Not so the Cheddarheads. We met the Barrel Man! This guy is the hardest fan in the universe. He wears that barrel like a true Scotsman, come rain, shine or snow with -30 degree wind chills. He huffs and puffs his way through a game on his feet (trying sitting down in a barrel) and then nearly has a cardiac arrest walking up the stairs at the end of the game. (Hey Mr Bowlen - how 'bout a Stairmaster 2000 for the guy?). The man is a true legend. In fact one of his old barrels now hangs in the Hall of Fame, Canton. |

Sundown in Kansas. After the game we head east on the never ending I-70 that takes us into Kansas - where a long drive will to Kansas City will await us tomorrow. |
