PART IV : CHEDDAR DAYS OFF!

Tue 3 Oct

Still recovering from Monday Night at Arrowhead. We have sore noses. We buy some Neil Smith nose plasters for them, and hit the road again. Drop Dom and Jackie off at the deserted Kansas City International Airport, who are flying out to the Bay Area for the Raiders - 49ers game. Then its back on the I-70, heading east to St. Louis! That's 'east to St. Louis' and not East St. Louis. The former is the nice city with a big Arch, the latter is a dump where you'll likely get shot!

Wed 4 Oct

Day in St. Louis for some shopping. Oh and stopping by the Budweiser factory …

Like we said - there's a big friggin' Arch in this town. Believe it or not but we went right to the top in a tiny little boxcar, to get a view of the mighty Mississippi and East St. Louis. It's a great sports town. Baseball's Cardinals were in midst of the playoffs, so the water flowed cardinal red in the downtown fountains!

It's the Trans World Dome - home of the World Champ Rams! No inside shots, as the Rams were on their bye week and they were refurbishing the stadium for a conference.

We stayed in the Drury Inn just across the road. Awesome hotel!!! Every weekday between 5.30 and 7 was happy hour in the bar - unlimited free cocktails baby! Needless to say the hotel staff hadn't seen too many Scottish tourists stocking up on drinks before!

There's no speed limit on the Rams this year - as they are scoring points at a record pace!

Following in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark …

On the road to the Windy and Wet City - Chicago

Look who we picked up here. FO Fester (centre) looks to the skies for divine intervention and checks for rain. Apparently the FO like wet cities …

Later on, it was time to dress up and head to Mike Ditka's for some serious steak and cigar smoke! Classy joint as you would expect!

This is a picture of a steak. A really big one.

Cheddars in Action in Chicago! The tall black thing in the background is Sears Tower.

Looking down at Soldier Field from Sears Tower. This was Friday and fairly mild - but come game day on Sunday it would be a lot colder!

As night fell over Chicago on Friday, it was time to hit the road again and get back to a ball game. So we head down into Indiana, setting sail for West Lafeyette, the home of Purdue University. But there's no room at the Inn within a 30-mile radius of the place, as it's homecoming and Michigan - so we are heading for Indianapolis! But we eventually stop at a place called Lebanon, Inidana (seriously) which was this year's winner of "Shitsville USA". A night of dodgy chili at Steak & Steak only compounds this. Heading back to the Motel we notice that the temperature is dropping faster the chili in our bodily systems. It could be cold tomorrow!
