PART VII - Hall of Fame Baby! |
Tue 26 Oct
With the football games over, we could now relax. NOT! We had to drive back into Ohio, to the small town of Canton which is home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It was well worth the trip let me tell you! |

Did the Broncos and Falcons really win these last year? |
I wonder if we will still be welcome in Green Bay next year after this ... Sorry Vince! |

The Crown Jewels! Dameyune Criag's jersey and helmet from the 611 yard night in Frankfurt (our last win!). The inscription reads, "Dameyune Craig of the Scottish Claymores wore this jersey and helmet when he threw for an astounding 611 yards in a 42-35 win over the Frankfurt Galaxy on May 22, 1999. Craig completed 27 of 37 attempts and threw a league tying five touchdowns while setting the historical yardage mark in week 6 of NFL Europe action." |

Believe it or not though the Craig game-ball isn't the only ball from a Claymores quarterback in the hall. Steve Matthews (96) has a ball in there too! That's to commemorate the last scrimmage play in Oilers team history (a 13 yard pass from Matthews to Michael Roan) before they changed their nickname to Titans this year. |

As well as probably being the first clowns to turn up to Canton in kilts, we also became the first to be thrown out when it closed unexpectedly at 5pm. (We had thought it was 9pm - that's summer only). The operation manager of the hall, Tim Miller, was good enough to give us an extra 15 minutes to hit the museum store - which we did. He figured he had got rid of us - wrong! We were back the next day for an unprecedented 2nd day at the Hall! Tim was gracious enough to give us a backstage tour, showing us the archive center and library resource at the hall, as well as photos from this year's induction ceremony. We were salivating at the mouth! But eventually sometime on the Wednesday we did finally leave ... |

And headed for Cleveland and the new stadium! This is a beautiful piece of work as well. Can't wait to take in a game here! We skipped the Rock and Roll Hame of Fame which was next door. Hey we were all Hall of Famed out! |

Wed 27 Oct / Thur 28 Oct We make the long drive back east, back through Ohio and Pennsylvania until we reach New Jersey. Before we drop the car back at the airport, we have one final stop to make ...
Our #1 bar in Carlstadt, NJ - Halfway Go-Go. Say no more! And that was it for another year. Another great trip full of fantastic memories and wonderful people. We feel the awareness of NFL Europe has increased this year, and we tried to spread it as much as we could. But now it's time to pack away the Cheddarheads until April 2000 and Opening Weekend! |
