A 6 team league set up the NFL to develop some of it's future stars.

It was a dog of a season that was finally decided by a chicken. After a slow start, we finally caught fire winning our last 4 games, thanks in no part to QB Craig Nall and League MVP RB Ken Simonton. However our 6-4 record wasn't good enough to get into the World Bowl, as the already qualified Frankfurt Galaxy decided to take week 10 off, losing to a poor Berlin team, meaning that we lost out on tiebreakers while the Galaxy got to play a very average Fire team instead. |

We finally won on the road, after losing 9 straight games away from Scotland. We finally won in Barcelona after losing our first 7 games in Spain. But we ended up at 5-5 thanks to a spluttering passing offense, misled by banged up QB Scott Dreisbach who finished with an all-time low in passer rating of 46.1. All this despite having the league's top rusher in Whisper Goodman (877 yards). |

Under new coach Gene Dahlquist in 2001, we returned to our losing ways, repeating our 1998 feat of going 0-5 on the road. We were there again extending our record consecutive games attended streak (Shuggie 52, Preston 41). Along the way we managed to 'cheddar' German techno hardcore legends Scooter, and set up a sub fan club 'Cooking with Gus', so it wasn't all bad! |

In 2000 the football Gods were finally kind to us, as we were blessed with a great football team! Led by a ferocious defense, and star RB Aaron Stecker, the Claymores' Hounds of Scotland barked their way all the way to a 6-4 record and to World Bowl 2000 in Frankfurt! However there they would fall in a heartbreaker 13-10 to the Rhein Fire - but we partied on as we had all season! |

99 saw a season of much promise for the Claymores, led by exciting QB Dameyune Craig. However old traditions die hard and a lousy defense who couldn't stop anybody contributed to a four-game season ending skid to seal another losing season at 4-6. We were again present at every Claymore game, and our drinking trials and tribulations were shown by NFL Films around the world on their Blast Show. |

| Bored with some of the similarities of another Claymores season of in the fledging NFLE league, Shuggie and Preston don painted Cheeseheads in a tartan style and attend every Claymores game in an effort to "fire up our team and get free drinks". The former fails miserably as the Claymores go 2-8, but the latter is a unqualified drunken success!!! | ![]() |
