CHEDDAR CANDID CAMERA RECAPS THE WEEKEND AS CHEDDAR CAM IS CURRENTLY ON IR WITH A SAND RELATED MALFUNCTION! |
It's straight to the game, as there are no power parties in Barca this year (everybody sleeps). It didn't take long for the Dragons to score, as they marched confidently down field finishing their first drive off when Jarious Jackson took the option pitch himself in for a TD. DRAGONS 7-0 |
The Dragons scored despite a tornado hitting the end zone minutes earlier where everything including the game clock went flying! This was the most exciting part of the day … |
Once again our offense came out like it was playing in the dark. A 2nd consecutive 3 and out was punished by Trevor Insley taking the punt back 71 yards for a TD. Even when they got it going on their next drive Rob Hart missed a 33 FG to end his consecutive kick streak ... DRAGONS 14-0 |
And so it was time for some Cooking with Gus! Gus had been promised the 2nd quarter and was ably cheered onto the field by the "Chefheads" and Gus's brother Jim who was over from New York! |
Could Gus provide the shining light to guide the mis-firing Claymores offense? Sadly a couple of promising drives went for naught, the latter when a tipped pass set up a Jesus Angoy FG just before the half. DRAGONS 20-0 |
We finally got onto the board in the 3rd thanks to Clint and Dante. First Dante laid out a super block that sprung a scrambling Clint for 21 yards. Then Clint hit #1 on a quick pass, and once again Dante out juked the defender and went in for his 5th TD of the season breaking a drought of 2 and a half games. DRAGONS 20-7 |
But 2 Clint turnovers deep in our own half would prove costly. However our D, especially Chris Ward (making the tackle here) would hold firm providing 2 stellar goal line stands. But 2 more Angoy FG's would put the game out of range … DRAGONS 26-7 |

Preston reflects on another 0 and 5 road trip season. We did this in 98 too so we're used to it. In fact the Cheddarheads road record since 98 (our inception) is a woeful 4 and 17! Maybe we should be barred from the road! |
Coach - where the hell are you going? Once again our head coach exits stage left before anybody else and walks off the field, passing within yards of our 20+ Tartan Army and completely ignoring the fans again. Our away fans are as good as any in the league and support the team through thick and thin - and you cannot continually treat them like this. This is unacceptable sir. |
Preston shows the Coach how it is supposed to be done. It's not to much to be asked is it? Big thanks to the other coaches and players who were great on the road all year. It means a lot to us. |
And the biggest thanks of all to #7 - Gus who finally got some meaningful playing time. Gus has been incredible with the fans all year and it was touching that he mentioned the fans in his press conference last week as helping him to keep his chin up all year. We hope to see some more cooking this weekend too! |
You lose the game, you feel bad - but there's always a cure. Sitges Sack provided a nice cold Schlosser Alt for us and suddenly the world seemed a better place! After seeing the team off, it was back to Sitges to party with the Dragon players (and some Claymores players in disguise too). |
In the Sitges Sports Bar we ran into Dragons legend La'Roi Glover and decided to cheddar him up. Who says he's undersized? Things started to get hazy after this. We ate the Dragons food as always, and then some of their beer and champagne and then hit the clubs of Sitges! |
Shuggie gives Montse from Sitges Sack a congratulatory snog. Montse and John organized a super BBQ on Friday night that was well received by all the Claymores fans in attendance. Her Sangria though left us with various blackout periods from the evening! |
This is about as close as we'll get to the World Bowl in 2001 then! Big thanks to Paco (far left) whose bar was a safe haven later, much later in the night. His carryout for the beach/sea was much appreciated!
We won't show you any nudity on the beach thankfully. Instead we'll show you the beach where a strange looking Dragon seemed to have crawled ashore the next day! This is a great place to unwind when the season is winding down …
