Wednesday - World Cup Fever

Back in Dusseldorf with our Fire friends and its ... another disaster for Scotland! Despite a united Fire-Claymores support the Scottish soccer team open the World Cup by falling to Brazil 2-1. Bloody Tommy Boyd!

The only way to drown our sorrows was another trip to Oldtown and Jill Eulenspiegel! Why not!

Thursday - Fan Day and Flag Football Madness

With the unfortunate rumours still surrounding the team, it is the Cheddarheads mission to be noticed and generally cause a wee bit of a stink to those that count on Fan Day.

But first we had to re-acquaint ourselves with some of Frankfurt friends from 2 weeks back

Our girlie friends, cheddared in the picture above, showed us a great picture from 2 weeks back when Shuggie, Fraser and Arman had 'front flashed' them and they had caught them perfectly on film! I'm still waiting for you to send me a copy!

Our Amercian friends, Glen and Roger brought their doggies to Fan Day (if you can that Alaskan Hound a dog- it was the size of a Shetland Pony!). So we had to cheddar our first animals of the season!

And then it was flag football time! It all had started out so seriously, with fans from the Fire and Galaxy playing off in the first semi-final in a well-organised contest that the Fire ran out winners.

Then it was the turn of the NFL Europe front office to take the field and beat up on the hapless team of Coppers. Oliver Luck (#10) showed no signs of rust by zinging his first pass 50 yards downfield for a touchdown. However this seemed to prompt his benching to fullback (see picture below) to make way for back up wonder and Claymores GM in waiting Wil Wilson (#68). He is pictured below, demonsrating calmness in the pocket, unaware of what was to come in the final.

So the final was supposed to be Fire vs. NFL Europe front office, but it didn't last long! In dire need of help, the Fire dialed 911, went to the bullpen and called for some Cheddar Power!

Unfortunately we had been enjoying ourselves way too much on the Apple Wine so our effectiveness was limited. With catching the ball out of the question (hey - the QB was calling the plays in German!), we decided that dirty play was the only way to go and #68 had to pay the price!

In the top picture you we see the offense lined up in the seldom used 'Cheddar Twins Right' formation lined up against #68 Wil Wilson, who had to put with our taunting and barking at the line of scrimmage (You may also notice #10 Oliver Luck just laughing at us). After the snap we double teamed the hapless CB and took him down - much to our approval. It was a shame that this was the one play that the QB decided to throw to us!

The farce and the whipping continued, as we were unable to enginner a 12 touchdown comeback. But we invented a new kind of flag football using cheddars instead of flags!

Big thanks to our Galaxy Power Party man Werner who helped to get us noticed that day. On the stage he saw us and announced us, saying what a great time he had in Scotland for World Bowl 96. And then we entered the field of play for the flag football, his commentary let everybody know. Plus he got the sound system to play some pipe music!

Friday - Cologne with the Burning Hearts

It was party time again! After a wee guided tour of the Catherdral in Cologne, it was time for a trip down the Rhein, all aboard the drink-as-much-you-can disco boat!

Thanks to Hansi (pictured above and below) and Jurgen for arranging the whole thing. It was a wild night!

When the boat was drunk dry it was time for the boy band to take a trip with Jochen back to his hometown, Legendland - the place where the time is always 10.30pm. Don't ask me why!
